Reconciling the Community to Christ
Today we went back into our archives to bring forward two powerful and timely messages. One speaks of the aroma God loves—how our prayers ascend to Him as a pleasing fragrance. The other takes us to our 2017 Convocation, where Bishop Dr. Hector Ortiz issued a strong and heartfelt call for church-wide repentance. These sermons challenge us to pray fervently and return wholeheartedly to God in this hour.
In this service, we went into the Church of God of Prophecy archives to uncover a powerful sermon by Pastor Ricky Christopher titled “Restoring the Years.” This message speaks to what the ecclesia must do to re-surface and rebuild the Church’s foundations, drawing inspiration from the spiritual depth and faith of our forefathers from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. It is a timely call to remembrance, restoration, and renewal.
Pastor Albert reminded us that in a world where the things we rely on can change without warning, especially in today’s uncertain economic and political climate there is one constant we can hold onto. Drawing from Psalm 46:1–5, he points us to Christ as our refuge and strength. While circumstances may shift, Christ never changes and remains our firm and unshakable foundation.
Pastor Albert spoke to us about being ready for Christ’s return, drawing from the theme “O Come, O Come Emmanuel.” Using scripture from Revelation 22:12–20, he highlighted the urgency of the times we are living in and reminded us that this message is not just for Christmas, but is deeply relevant to our everyday lives.
Our Christmas sermon was delivered by our guest minister, Rebecca Jackman, who spoke on the theme “pray, wait, and stay in position.” She centred her message on Mary’s encounter with God when she was told she would give birth to Jesus, a moment that challenged human logic and understanding.
Mary’s response, “How can this be?” captures a question we all face when God calls us into something beyond our natural ability. The sermon invited us to reflect on our own “how can it be?” moments those situations where God is working in us and through us in ways we could never accomplish on our own.
The message reminded us that prayer aligns our hearts with God, waiting builds our trust, and staying in position keeps us ready to receive what He has promised. Just as Mary trusted God despite not understanding the process, we are called to remain faithful, believing that God can bring miracles to life through our obedience and surrender.
Pastor Albert's sermon was about Emmanuel God with us and the Prince of our Peace. Matthew 1:18-23 & Isaiah 9:6&7.
We went into our service archives and found this message from May 2024 that was still extremely timely and relevant. We were blessed to have Pastor Carl Smith return to give us a deeply powerful message about the power of praise and the importance of renewing the mind. Matt 21:12-17, 1 Corin 1:27-29, 2 Corin 10:3-5, 2 Chron 20:3-23 and Eph 6:14-17.
Minister Sonia showed us how Jonah, God’s prophet, resisted both God’s call and God’s mercy but the King of Nineveh, a pagan ruler, quickly humbled himself, repented, and led his people in seeking God’s compassion. What is our response to God's instructions?
Our service today was around prayer, worship and the goodness of God through testimonies.
Pastor Albert shared a powerful message on how the church is called to spread the good news in unity, mirroring the perfect unity of the Father and the Son. John1:1-5
We delved into our service archives and found this powerful message from Minister Yvonne Kennedy which is relevant today just as it was back in May 2021, where we were reminded to hear from God and to be obedient to what He is saying even when it looks foolish to unbelievers. Exodus 14:13
What a powerful time we had in God’s presence! We heard inspiring testimonies and heartfelt exaltations from Hannah and Sofia Houslin that reminded us of God’s goodness and faithfulness when in the storm. To persevere and to also put off the 'old man'.
The Church of God of Prophecy is a global, Christ-centred movement rooted in Scripture, steadfast in faith, passionate about people, and dedicated to reconciling the world to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
